GENERAL INFORMATION & EXPECTATIONS

SERVER PHILOSOPHY

Green Pastures Roleplay is a serious, story-driven RedM server focused on immersive, character-centered storytelling in 1896. Every choice you make should feel like it matters. You’re here to live out a character’s life, win, lose, struggle, and grow. We don’t restrict creativity, but we do guide it so that everyone’s stories fit together in a believable world. These rules exist to protect the world we build together, not to control it.

SERVER DISCLAIMER

By joining this server, you agree to follow the rules. Reading the rules is the first rule. If you skip them, you're already breaking them. We expect everyone to be on the same page. These rules are here to keep things fair and fun for everyone. Respect them and you’ll have a good time. "I didn't know" is not an excuse. Rules can be updated at any time. It’s your job to stay informed. Not every situation is listed here. Some things will be handled case by case. If you’re unsure, open a ticket and ask. Staff decisions are final.

ROLEPLAY OVER RULEPLAY

Roleplay comes first. Rules support the story, not stop it. Creative scenes are encouraged, even in gray areas, as long as they stay fair and immersive. If unsure at the moment, lean into RP and make a ticket after. We reward good roleplay, not rule lawyering.

STAFF & COMMUNITY RESPECT

Disrespecting staff is not allowed. This includes rudeness, mockery, or refusal to cooperate. We are not here to punish people, but to keep a healthy roleplay-driven environment. If you're temp banned or pulled into a ticket or VC, we’re not upset. We're asking for your side and correcting behavior.
Treat all members with respect. Harassment, trolling, discrimination, or hate speech WON'T be tolerated. Avoid politically charged topics. No spam or unsolicited promotions without admin approval. Be respectful. Be receptive. Listen to understand, not to respond.

REPORTING STAFF

Staff are expected to set the tone for the community at all times. If you see a staff member breaking rules or behaving inappropriately, don’t hesitate to speak up. Open a ticket and request that only top-level staff handle it. All reports are taken seriously and will be treated with care. A healthy server starts with staff being proper role models.

Anchor 2

ZERO TOLERANCE RULES

Violating any of the following can and WILL result in PERMANENT removal unless deemed otherwise by staff:

Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is NOT tolerated. This includes unwanted comments, gestures, emotes, advances, or actions IC or OOC. All reports are taken seriously and reviewed based on context.

Power Gaming & Exploiting

Power Gaming and Exploiting are NOT tolerated.
DO NOT force actions, abuse game mechanics, control scenes unfairly, or use bugs/glitches for advantage. If your goal is to win instead of telling a story, you're power gaming.

  • Found something broken? Report it, DON’T abuse it.

Discrimination

  • Slurs, hate speech, racism, or homophobia are NOT tolerated IC or OOC. These things don’t exist in our community.

Suicide Roleplay

  •  Suicide RP is NOT allowed. DO NOT act it out, describe, hint at, or joke about it.

Toxic Behavior / Character Bleed

  • You are NOT your character. Real life emotions should NOT affect your RP choices, and your RP choices should NOT affect your real life actions.

  • In character banter and trash talk are part of RP, BUT your insults should have purpose and meaning, not just be random or excessive.

  • In community streams and public chats, you are expected to be respectful at ALL times.

  • DO NOT message others to stir up drama or bring in-character grievances out of character.

  • Excessive violence, like blowing off limbs or heads, is fail RP. It’s unrealistic, awkward for medical roleplay, and you CANNOT force those kinds of injuries onto another player. There is no reason for it to happen in normal RP.

Third-Party Communication & Metagaming

  • You may NOT be in any form of 3rd party call while in the server even with those who are not in the server.

  • Roleplay should have your FULL ATTENTION.

  • All IC communication MUST happen in-game.

  • DO NOT use Discord, DMs, or calls to pass IC info.

  • Metagaming is NOT tolerated.

  • DO NOT use outside info (Discord, Twitch, etc.) in-game.

  • If your character didn’t see, learn or hear it in game, they DO NOT know it.

IF YOU ARE IN AN ACTIVE CONFLICT WITH A STREAMER YOU MAY NOT WATCH THEIR STREAMS.

  • This helps keep and foster an organic roleplay story.

False Reports & Weaponized Claims

  • Knowingly making false reports or using serious topics to target others is NOT tolerated. These actions harm real victims and discourage others from speaking up. Weaponizing the rules will result in removal.

OTHER IN-CHARACTER RULES

NVL (No Value of Life)

Your character should fear death and act like they want to stay alive.

  • If you’re heavily outnumbered, held at gunpoint, or taken hostage, reckless resistance is unrealistic. You DO NOT have to give up every time, but if you choose to resist, it must make sense for your character and the scene. Suicidal heroics with NO PermaDeath (PD) break immersion and the rule.

If your character is “Willing To Die” then that must be fully roleplayed out with a PERMA DEATH (PD)

Going OOC (Out Of Character)

  • You are NOT allowed to reference Discord, the rules, the server, or real-world concepts.

  • DO NOT mention bugs, systems, or controls. RP through everything.

  • If someone breaks a rule, you still roleplay through it. Use our ticket system in discord after the scene has taken place. DO NOT break a rule because someone else does.

  • If you are a Government employee having someone open a ticket to get hired you may refer to the ticket system as “TOWNHALL” for them to be added to the gov discord. It’s the ONLY EXCEPTION as we do not have any other choice.

  • Do not say things like “I need to go in my head” or “I’ll be right back” and your character just stays standing in one spot, find a reasonable RP excuse for your character stepping away.

  • Speaking as some like to call “Spiritually” Your Real life Persona and actions DO NOT EXIST in the server. Your character knows nothing of you.

  • Staff does NOT EXIST during RoleplayThere is NO such thing as a "staff member" or “server rules” in-character.

  • Don’t say “I’ll report you,” “staff will see this,” or “that’s against the rules”. Nor reference either in any way. If there's an issue, RP it out and handle it through a ticket with staff after. If you bring staff into a scene IC, you’re breaking immersion.

Fail RP

Fail RP means doing something your character wouldn’t or couldn’t realistically do.

It breaks immersion and damages the story. Your character should treat the server as if it is their real life, and should NOT be treated as if you are playing a video game.

Examples of Fail RP:

  • Running or fighting while critically injured

  • Talking while unconscious

  • Acting unaffected by torture, fear, or pain

  • Playing as an 1890s character with modern slang or behavior

  • Ignoring in-character consequences because you don’t like them

  • Killing NPCs - they should be treated as humans too.

  • Lawmen stealing NPC Horses

  • Pointing out a bug

  • Talking about what your character is doing as a game mechanic instead of through roleplay

  • Saying things like “This fills you up 50%”

  • Inserting yourself into a dangerous scene purposely with no reason.

  • Refusing to roleplay an injury just because a mechanic didn’t force it

  • Unrealistic use of emotes

  • Making outfits that match modern day characters or references(HALLOWEEN WEEK IS THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE

This is a ROLEPLAY server NOT VR chat, treating it like a virtual hangout instead of investing into your character and their story is FAILRP.

ERP (Erotic Roleplay)

  • What your character does in private is your business, just keep it private.
    - Explicit sexual roleplay MUST stay behind closed doors.

  • Public or casual sexual talk is NOT appropriate on the server.

Brothels are allowed with staff approval through a business application. If approved, they will be subject to STRICT rules, active monitoring, and ongoing oversight.

Pregnancy RP

Pregnancy RP is allowed, but there are rules surrounding it:

  • Your character must remain pregnant for 3 real-life weeks

  • 3 months after the birth date, someone may play your child

  • You may NOT play your own child

  • Pregnancy loss or miscarriage RP is NOT allowed

  • You may NOT torture or murder a child

  • Pregnant characters MUST avoid violence at all costs, valuing both their own life and their baby’s

 Hogtying

  • You must engage in roleplay before hogtying someone. Suddenly hogtying without prior interaction is considered power gaming.

Breaking Free from Hogties

  • DO NOT attempt to break free while your captor is present or nearby.

  • You may attempt to escape if: Your captors have loosened your ropes, you've been left alone for an extended period, or a significant distraction occurs (e.g., gunfire, explosion)

  • You may break free or cut your ropes while being dragged and not fully hogtied

  • You may NOT “Give Up” while hogties

Combat Logging

Disconnecting, respawning or crashing mid-RP doesn’t cancel out the consequences, it only adds to them. Staff can tell when you purposely disconnect from the server.

  • If you crash, respawn or log during a scene (robbery, arrest, fight, etc.), you MUST return and resume RP as soon as possible. If you don’t, staff will handle the outcome. Repeated combat logging will result in an automatic removal.

Horse Theft

  •  If your horse is stolen, you CANNOT track it via the map or whistle it back.

Changing Hairstyle

  • Any changes to your hair length must represent realistic changes. You can always cut your hair from long to short, but must let reasonable time in RP pass for hair growth.

  • You may not change your hair color for 24 hours after changing it.

Anchor 4

COMBAT RULES

ROLEPLAY OVER GUNPLAY

Cinematic standoffs are encouraged, but not every scene needs to drag out before things get rowdy. That said you should NEVER shoot on sight. Make sure your presence is known and your threat is clear.

No Random Deathmatch / Wagon Deathmatch (RDM/WDM)

All violence MUST begin with valid, immersive RP. You MUST engage or be engaged in a scene first; this means dialogue, “body language” through /me’s or emotes, intimidation, or setup that gives all parties a chance to respond. Violence should feel earned, not like a shortcut to a win.

Conflict / Crime Group Size Limit (6 per Side)

NO MORE than 6 players per side should be actively involved in combat unless staff gives permission. This includes lookouts, snipers, and support roles. If you're planning a large event, contact staff!

If you choose to approach a group larger than 6 and start conflict, criminal, civilian, or law - DO NOT expect them to count heads. You took the risk, it’s fair game. Be smarter or wait for a better moment.

On the flip side, abusing this rule by riding around in a large posse during an active conflict/intimidation, or as a shield will not be tolerated. Additionally, No Pile-Ons or Jumping Fights:

  • You may not join a fight unless your character has a valid, ongoing stake in the conflict.

  • “My gang is friends with their gang” is not a valid reason to jump into combat/conflict.

  • If it is not your direct fight, stay out of it.

Duels Require Build-Up

Duels must be the climax of a legitimate RP conflict, not a spontaneous excuse to kill a character. Duels must include clear terms (injury or permadeath) agreed to by both sides.  If you lose a duel, your character MUST suffer either death or a permanent, visible, gameplay-affecting injury.

Civilian Conduct in Shootouts/LEO Roleplay/VIGILANTISM

  •  Civilians must flee or stay hidden when gunfire begins.

  •  DO NOT try to “be the hero.”  Civilians drawing weapons or jumping into fights with no IC justification will be punished for Fail RP or NVL.

  •  Civilians must NOT interrupt LEO roleplay, VIGILANTISM is NOT ALLOWED. It is not your job to stop those bank robbers, that's what law is for!

Body Dumping

No Deep Water Dumps:

  • Don’t dump bodies into deep and/or running bodies of water. Use in-character methods that make sense and are accessible to retrieve the player should they be discovered. Dumping a body into deep water completely prevents them from being reached, and using this to avoid the character "remembering" events will be considered power gaming.

No Double-Dropping:

  •  Don’t drop, wait for a doctor ping, then move them just to mess with medical RP.

Watching is Fine, Interfering is Not:

  •  You can camp the body to watch, but don’t stop others from helping them.

30-Minute Limit:

  •  If nobody helps after 30 minutes, respawn. Don’t pretend someone found you after.

Use game mechanics fairly and with immersion in mind

  • Repeatedly rushing and shoving over others in a gunfight is an abuse of a mechanic and considered POWER GAMING

  • Rushing in a gunfight to lasso or shove a player is unrealistic, you would be dead before you got to them. This is defined as POWER GAMING, if your aim is to win the scenario and not create the best scene for all involved you are not here to roleplay.

Tonics & Revives

Tonics are not a way to win fights or skip consequences. They exist to support roleplay, not break immersion.

PvP Conflicts

  • You cannot use tonics during an active shootout or to jump back into a fight after being downed. That is power gaming / Fail RP and won’t be tolerated.

Getting Revived After a Fight

  • You may be revived by the party that downed you so the RP can continue. This might be for questioning, moving the story forward, or making sure you remember what happened. Once revived, you cannot be tortured or executed again.

  • The NVL rule and major injuries still apply. Your character should fear for their life and act accordingly. You’re in a fragile state, lucky to be alive. Act like it. (Abuse of this rule to easily down and rob will not be tolerated)

  • If you were shot, stabbed, or seriously hurt, you are expected to visit a doctor and roleplay your recovery. Ignoring injuries or brushing them off is considered Fail RP.

Anchor 5

CRIMINAL RULES

You may NOT commit a crime that requires law response with in 30 minutes of a restart (Before or After)
- i.e Drug Selling, Store Robbery, Bank Robbery, Grave Digging etc.

Robbery Initiation Requirements

All robberies MUST begin with RP. You CANNOT walk up and say "hands up" with no scene buildup. You MUST establish threat, motive, or character intent before demanding items or taking a hostage.

Robbery Limitations

  • Only take what your character could REASONABLY carry on their person or horse. This includes money, small valuables, and a few items.

  • DO NOT clean out inventories or abuse carry slots. Your character should have a personal reason for what they are taking.

  • There is no limit on illegal items like drugs or contraband.

  • You may NOT force someone to withdraw money from a bank, force someone to pull items from storage unless you're recovering a specific stolen item, or target players while they’re in menus (banks, stores, telegrams, processors, storage, camp spawns, etc.)

  • Finding loopholes to min/max taking everything possible will NOT be tolerated.

  • Rob an individual who has not been downed by you or a member of your group involved within the scene.

Robbery & Killing

 If you’re robbing someone:

  • YOU MAY NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ROB THEN KILL SOMEONE, WITHOUT THE EXPLICIT ARGUMENT OF NVL DURING THE ROBBERY. THERE ARE ZERO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE! IF YOU ARE TO KILL SOMEONE WHILE ROBBING THEM YOU MUST REPORT IT WITH VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THE NVL.

  •  Being the victim of a robbery does not give you a free pass to ignore the value of your own life.

Criminal Activities

  • Maximum of 6 Criminals per crime scene across the board.

  • Maximum of 6 Law per crime scene across the board.

  • Maximum of 15 Gang members in your group's total active members.

Crime Should Build Reputation

If your character is consistently doing high-risk or violent crimes, law and other players will take notice. Expect consequences, expect breaches, expect a ROUGHER approach from others. DO NOT expect to be treated like a mysterious stranger forever. If law learns your voice expect to change it during scenes to avoid being recognized or have others negotiate.

LAW SHOULD RESPECT THOSE ATTEMPTING TO HIDE THEIR VOICE.

Repeat Victimization & Cooldowns

  • You may not rob or attack the same person or "camp" repeatedly without story justification. A cooldown of 24 hours is expected unless there is ongoing RP or retaliation being actively roleplayed. Repeated hits with no build-up or clear purpose WILL be treated as griefing.

  • After committing a crime, you may not change your outfit or hairstyle for at least 30 minutes after a successful escape. You may take off pieces of clothing, however, if caught and searched, must comply if they would find the clothes on your person. You may not use an excuse that you "dumped the clothes" until after the 30 minutes has passed.

Hostage RP Requirements

  • Hostages MUST be treated as living characters, not tools. They should be shown value through negotiation, caution, or fear. You may only execute a hostage if they attempt to escape or if the story logically escalates to that point. Killing a hostage who complies will be treated as RDM unless a strong IC reason is present. Hostages MUST be real players who are not willing and fearing for their life, using a willing participant as a hostage is NOT allowed.

Torture RP Rules

You MUST get consent for torture. Make sure your threat is clear and build the tension. Once doing so, use: /me Consent to torture

The party you are torturing MUST respond with:
/me yes, /me consent, or something similar before you continue.

  • If you are willing to torture, you may also be tortured.

  • You may not down someone during torture. Leave them alive so the RP can continue.

  • Torture RP must be immersive and story-driven.

  • Major injuries (i.e., cutting off full limbs) CANNOT be forced unless agreed upon beforehand.

Baiting

  • Criminals may NOT use mechanical scripts (calling for doctor, locals reporting crimes, etc.) as a way to bait doctors or lawmen to a location. They may attempt to create a scene that attracts their attention, lie to get them somewhere, or use other means to isolate doctors and lawmen, just not the server's scripts.

Anchor 6

MEDICAL RP RULES

PermaDeath (PD)

Permadeath means your character is gone for good. They cannot return once PD happens. PD is usually voluntary, can not be forced by another player, but it can be required if:

  • You lose a duel or war where both sides agreed to PD stakes

  • You’re executed by law with full RP buildup and staff approval (staff will discuss it with you)

  • You choose to RP a deadly illness or injury from this era staff may require realistic outcomes

Examples of fatal 1890s conditions:

  • Gunshot to the brain

  • Tuberculosis (TB)

  • Rabies

Forced Injury & Consequences

If you survive a serious hit (like a gut shot or stab to the chest), you must RP the effects.

  • Examples: limping, vision loss, missing limb, long-term trauma, etc.

  • If you survive a duel, you must carry a visible injury that impacts RP.

  • The severity of your injuries is up to you, but consistently brushing off serious wounds is unrealistic and considered Fail RP.

Medical RP Expectations

Doctors give RP, NOT instant healing. Scenes should feel immersive and era-appropriate. Avoid modern terms and treatments. Use /me to describe your injury and reactions.

Example /me's:

/me clutches their side, blood soaking through their shirt
/me groans, revealing a deep knife wound in their abdomen
/me winces, holding a swollen, immobile arm
/me gunshot wound, clean through, left arm

Doctors treat what they see in your /me’s. All weapons are lethal, so RP the injury seriously.
Recovery takes time, don't return to action right after.

Medical Consent & Realism

If you’re downed or unconscious, your body is vulnerable. Don’t pop up mid-surgery, speak fully coherently or act superhuman.

  • Your injuries should reflect what happened to your character.

  • If you got downed in a gunfight you should have a Gun shot wound (GSW), If you got choked until you are unconscious, you should have marks around your neck and possible damage internally or swelling.

  • The severity of your injuries is up to you, but consistently brushing off serious wounds is unrealistic and considered Fail RP.

NLR (New Life Rule)

If you choose to respawn without medical RP, you forget the event but still carry your injuries.

No revenge, no return, no memory of it. If you have been down for over 30 minutes and no doctor has come to your aid you must respawn.

Injury & Recovery Guidelines

Not every injury needs hospital beds and doctor visits, but serious wounds should change how your character moves, talks, and reacts. If you’re shrugging off damage like nothing happened, that’s Fail RP. Here’s a rough guide to help you pace recovery:

  • Minor Injuries
Small stuff. Scrapes, bruises, maybe a shallow cut or fall.
RP Impact: A little discomfort, maybe a limp or wince
    Recovery Time: 1 – 2 in-game days (about 2 – 4 hours real time)

  • Moderate Injuries
Rough hits or dangerous situations. You’re not dying, but it hurts.
Examples: GSW to the arm, cracked ribs, cougar mauling
RP Impact: Slower movement, restricted action, possibly follow up doctor treatments
    Recovery Time: 3 – 5 in-game days (6 – 10 hours or more)

  • Severe Injuries
Gunshots to the chest, deep stabs, head trauma, organ hits. You almost died.
RP Impact: Long-term pain, doctor dependency, major scarring
Recovery Time: 5 – 7 in-game days or more along with follow up treatments from doctors

  • You don’t need to count the exact time, but let your wounds change your story. Slapping a bandage on and riding off into a gunfight? Not realistic.

LAW & DOCTOR RULES

Law Roleplay & Arrest Expectations

Law roleplay should feel like the 1890's. Marshals and Sheriffs are NOT modern police officers with radios and forensics. Criminals are not tech geniuses with bank hacking and burner phones. This is a time of wanted posters, witnesses, hands on investigations, more aggressive approaches and face and voice recognition, play like it is that way. Although lawyers are available, hollering "My rights! My rights!" was not at all common during these times.

Law Roleplay

Your voice is your strongest weapon, talk before you shoot.
Give chase in a scene before using a lasso, create moments and events, not just arrests.
Use dialogue and emotions to build fear, respect, tension, and truly develop the scenes. Arrests should feel earned, not rushed, let the scene build, don't act like it's a rush to get them into a jail cell. Jail is part of the roleplay, not the end of it, offer options and questions to your suspects, make it more cinematic and dynamic. If you're unsure of how to conduct yourself in a scene, slow down and try to follow the RP, staff and higher-ups can always help guide later.

Corruption & Government Jobs

If you want your character to be corrupt as a sheriff, marshal, or doctor, you MUST open a ticket and get approval first. In that ticket, include:

  • Your character's reasoning for being corrupt

  • Your character's backstory

  • The type of corruption you plan to roleplay

Unapproved corruption in government roles MAY result in PermaDeath of your character and/or removals from the server. Stealing from job storages or ledgers is NOT allowed, unless specifically approved, even if you're playing corrupt. That includes doctor cabinets, evidence lockers, or payroll books.

KEEP ROLEPLAY ORGANIC FOR ALL INVOLVED! SHARING OF ANY GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS, CLOCK-IN INFORMATION, OR PROCEDURES TO THOSE OUTSIDE OF THE DEPARTMENT IS NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
